HSN's Beauty department has an exciting opportunity for a talented Buyer I ( usually referred to as an Associate Buyer in industry) to join the Extended Assortment team overseeing all Beauty categories on the HSN digital platforms. The Buyer I position is a developmental role intended to prepare for a Buyer II position. The primary responsibility of the Buyer I is to develop, negotiate and execute new products, concepts and ideas while maximizing multi-platform opportunities that will resonate with customers. The Buyer I will have ownership of a portion of the Buying Office’s business and take accountability for long term and short term strategic and financial planning, purchasing and managing sales objectives. Select products based on relevant trends and understand how to translate them into products/concept for multi-platform retail. Educate and communicate with vendors and cross-functional departments.

Your Impact
- Under the supervision of the DMM, the Buyer I is responsible for maintaining the digital assortment for assigned merchandise categories. Brand portfolio includes national beauty brands such as Clinique, MAC, Benefit, Too Faced, Dyson and Beekman as well as limited distribution and masstige brands.
- Identify, develop, negotiate terms, and purchase items that will be successful in electronic retail and which meet or exceed the expectations of our customers. Analyze item, category, and other relevant on ecommerce sales to follow trends and react accordingly based on performance. Analyze the productivity of each vendor and category within product lines of responsibility. Evaluate customer-buying behaviors and identify trends.
- Responsible for daily office functions (e.g., maintaining spreadsheets, item creation, etc). Assist in training the Merch Admin regarding daily office operations. Handle Quality Assurance (QA) issues. Demonstrate a high level of product expertise.
- Partner and communicate with internal counterparts to maximize efficiency of product lifecycle activities and manage the order process. Establish cross-functional relationships with Quality Assurance, eCommerce, Legal, Social Marketing, Multi Channel Planning to ensure products are presented to our customer properly. Developing these relationships is an essential part of maintaining clear business goals and objectives.
- Work in tandem with the on-air buying teams to create cohesive short- and long-term brand strategies.
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships. Responsible for vendor communication, education and preparation. Responsible to return all vendor calls in a timely basis. Give effective oral and written presentations.
- Although this is a hybrid role, a commitment of at least 6 days per month in office is required.
What You Bring
- 2-5 years of corporate or ecommerce merchandise buying experience.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently requiring limited supervision and exercise proper judgment.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to interface well with cross-functional teammates at all levels.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
