POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Engineer reports to the Information Security Manager and plays a critical role in designing, integrating, and overseeing the technical architecture of Eden Housing’s evolving technology ecosystem. As Eden Housing adopts new Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, applications, and vendor solutions, the IT Engineer will be responsible for managing comprehensive technical changes, including backend automation, data governance (such as Data Loss Prevention), rigorous application and tool testing, information security protocols, privacy compliance, and operational policy development. This position is also responsible for enforcing compliance with PII and HIPAA requirements across systems. The IT Engineer will coordinate closely with the Technology Management team to ensure strategic alignment and seamless execution of initiatives supporting Eden’s four-corner goal: Invest in Infrastructure for Agility and Scale. This position requires off-hour availability for potential security remediations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, document, and implement technical architecture changes resulting from the integration of new tools, applications, and vendor solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational needs.
- Lead the automation of backend processes to increase operational efficiency, reduce risk, and support scalable infrastructure.
- Maintain robust data governance frameworks, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP) measures, to safeguard sensitive organizational data.
- Oversee comprehensive application and tool testing processes to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance prior to deployment.
- Develop, implement, and monitor information security protocols and privacy compliance controls, including adherence to PII and HIPAA regulations.
- Define, document, and enforce operational policies and controls that address evolving technology requirements and legal obligations.
- Collaborate with the Technology team to coordinate technology changes, remediation efforts, and strategic planning activities.
- Monitor and triage alerts from security tools (e.g., SIEM, EDR, DLP, email security, MDR/SOC platform)
- Monitor the integrity and security status of all hardware, server resources, cloud and on-premises systems, service providers, workstations, endpoints, and key processes.
- Perform high-level review of system and application logs/alerts.
- Assist in applying standard hardening baselines (e.g., CIS-aligned settings) and documenting exceptions as directed.
- Participate in iterative collaborations (analysis/design/development) with business and technical resources for new and existing applications/systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field required; advanced degree or certifications in relevant areas preferred.
- Extensive experience with enterprise-level systems integration, automation, and cloud computing environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in data governance, DLP strategies, and compliance with privacy regulations (including PII and HIPAA).
- Proficiency in information security protocols, risk management, and operational policy development.
- Strong understanding of AI tools, cloud-based and on-premises architecture.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, including experience working with management and cross-functional teams.
- Availability for off-hour incident response and system remediation.
- Experience working with Cisco Firewalls, Access Points, and switching products.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents or staff of the organization. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other staff of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Willingness to learn to prepare annual budgets.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Capacity to deal with issues involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to research problems and determine resolution.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
This position requires reliable transportation during the workday to travel between sites, attend meetings, run business related errands and other responsibilities as assigned.
CompTIA Network+, MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer) is a plus.
OTHER DESIRABLE SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

- Solid understanding of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, iOS/Android.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Power Automate and other tools in the Microsoft Power Suite.
- Strong knowledge and experience of Windows OS and Endpoints in a networked environment.
- Working knowledge of current version of Microsoft Server.
- Working knowledge of backup and restore infrastructure.
