Mobile Fleet Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Mobile Fleet Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and mechanical equipment to ensure they operate efficiently and safely. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality service.

Position Details

  • Reports to: National DOT Compliance & Fleet Manager
  • Location: Onsite
  • Position Type: Full-Time
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Pay: Hourly
  • Travel: Up to 60%

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles, machinery, and equipment (e.g., oil changes, brake repairs, tire rotations)
  • Diagnoses mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and clearly explains necessary repairs
  • Conducts inspections and test drives to verify the quality of work performed
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance and repairs
  • Assembles mechanical components according to manufacturer specifications
  • Orders and manages inventory of parts and tools
  • Ensures compliance with company safety procedures and industry regulations
  • Develops maintenance plans for recurring service needs and equipment upgrades
  • Performs vehicle assessments and informs management of issues that may prevent passing inspection
  • Collaborates with team members and other departments to ensure timely service delivery
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a mechanic or in a similar role
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
  • Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and perform tasks in various environments
  • Must have own tools

Preferred Job Requirements

  • ASE certification

Work Schedule/Work Environment

  • The standard working hours are 7 AM – 4 PM. This candidate should be willing and available to work overtime as needed to meet project demands and deadlines, including extended hours, overtime, various shifts including nights and weekends and holidays when necessary
  • This position may require extended periods of travel and working in inclement weather
  • Must be able to stand and work on feet for 8–12 hour shifts
  • Must be able to sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, reach, crawl, and kneel
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 10 feet
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sounds by ear
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment
  • May be exposed to non-hazardous and hazardous material
