Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, student-centered School Counselor to join our team for the 2025–2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will provide social-emotional and behavioral support to students, foster family and community collaboration, and help create a safe and inclusive school environment that promotes personal and academic success for all learners.This role is integral to supporting students’ mental health, social-emotional development, and overall well-being within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework.Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to support students’ social-emotional development, academic engagement, and mental health needs.
  • Implement and monitor social-emotional learning (SEL) and behavioral interventions aligned with students’ individualized education plans (IEPs) 
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and specialists to develop strategies for supporting students in crisis or with behavioral challenges.
    Serve as a liaison between home, school, and community agencies to connect families with appropriate supports and resources.
  • Participate in IEP and Student Support Team meetings, contributing to the development of social-emotional and behavioral goals.
  • Provide crisis response, risk assessment, and safety planning as needed.
  • Support school-wide initiatives related to bullying prevention, restorative practices, and mental health awareness.
  • Facilitate staff training and consultation on trauma-informed practices, de-escalation, and positive behavioral supports.
  • Assist with transitions between educational placements, grade levels, or life changes that impact student adjustment.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with federal and state regulations (FERPA, IDEA, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee to support the overall mission of the school.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred
  • Massachusetts DESE licensure as a School Counselor or School Adjustment Counselor/Social Worker (or eligible for licensure)

  • Demonstrated experience working with students who have social-emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-sensitive school practices

Employment is contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
