Position Overview:
The Teen Center Aide plays a vital role in supporting students experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or other barriers to academic success. This position provides individualized support, case management, advocacy, and resource coordination within TCSD Teen Centers. The Teen Center Aide works closely with school staff, families, and community partners to ensure students have access to basic needs and supportive services that enable them to remain engaged in school and on track to graduate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide case management services to students referred to the Teen Center due to risk factors including homelessness, truancy, mental health challenges, or unmet basic needs.
- Conduct strengths-based assessments and develop individualized student support plans.
- Connect students and families to internal and external resources (food, housing, clothing, hygiene supplies, healthcare, transportation, mental health, etc.).
- Track student progress and maintain confidential documentation using district-approved data systems.
- Coordinate with school counselors, administrators, teachers, and McKinney-Vento liaisons to support academic engagement.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Teen Center, including intake, inventory, donation organization, and student supervision.
- Facilitate life skills groups, workshops, or mentoring activities that support resilience, graduation, and future planning.
- Assist with data collection, grant reporting, and outcome tracking.
- Maintain professional boundaries and follow all TCSD confidentiality, FERPA, and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in training, professional development, and team meetings as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years or older
- High School Diploma
- Experience working with youth and families, especially those who are at-risk, homeless, or underserved.
- Ability to build rapport with diverse students and maintain a trauma-informed, student-centered approach.
- Knowledge of community resources and referral processes.
- Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the mission of removing barriers to student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or related field.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- Familiarity with McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and school-based supports.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
Schedule: Flexible, up to 29 hours per week, during school hours. Location: Assigned high school(s) with an operating Teen Center. Pay: Support Professional Salary Level E1 $15.85 hourly wage Time card position
