Additional Information: Show/Hide The American Indian Cultural Liaison is a role designed to support the holistic success of American Indian students in the Orono Schools. Through direct service and support to American Indian students and their families, this role will support high expectations and connectedness to the Orono School Community. This role will also support understanding of American Indian student cultural heritage and positively reinforce the image of American Indian students in alignment with the goals of the American Indian Education Aid program.
Job Summary:
Provide support and resources to American Indian families and students
Work directly with American Indian students to support their holistic success
Support the development of American Indian student cultural heritage and corresponding school district efforts
Intervene with American Indian students who have a demonstrated need for additional support
Serve as a liaison between American Indian families, the AIPAC committee, and the district
Attend AIPAC meetings and support creating solutions and resources that support committee goals and activities
Plan and enact events for American Indian families and the community in alignment with the AIPAC committee
Align activities with MDE guidance for the use of American Indian Education Aid
Communicate with parents, colleagues, students, and administrators
Qualifications:
Skilled in working with culturally diverse students and families
Knowledge of American Indian programs, culture, and heritage
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
Strong organizational, time-management, self-direction, and scheduling skills
Ability to apply educational technology tools including Google workspace applications
Confidential and trustworthy
Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving
Valid MN Driver’s License
Bargaining Group and Level: unaffiliated
Compensation: Rate $30.00-35.00 per hour depending on education, licensure and experience. 15 hours per week.
