This is a FlexSteel Pipe position and is located in Baytown, TX.

  • The Machinist will be responsible for operating and running stations with up to two lathes.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Always conform to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Maintain traceability as required throughout the fabrication process.
  • Maintain Cleanliness and preparation of components as required.
  • Report any Non-conforming components to supervisor.
  • Ensure complete components are stored in such a way that no damage will occur while in transit to the next operation.
  • Responsible for lower-level machine work (i.e., drilling, tapping, grinding, etc.).
  • Will work as part of a multi-functional team to promote continuous improvements to safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and Product development.
  • All candidates must be punctual and reliable and adhere to strict attendance policy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.   • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent GED.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience doing setups, edits, and machining on CNC Lathes
  • Experience with carbon, stainless steel materials
  • Experience running station with multiple machines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Candidates must be able to read prints to do own setup & editing as needed during runs
  • Experience with Okuma Lathes with Live Tooling a major plus
  • Experience with G-Codes & Okuma Controls (OSP – 200LA and 300) a major plus
  • This position may require:

  • Field, Branch, Shop, & Plant Positions: This position operates in an industrial/field environment. The role requires working in and around manufacturing equipment, heavy machinery, and potentially hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
    • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly
    • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift)
    • Climb stairs and ladders
    • Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
    • Work in confined spaces when required
    • Operate heavy equipment and power tools
  • Perform repetitive movements

  • Field, Branch, Shop, & Plant Positions: This position operates in an industrial/field environment. The role requires working in and around manufacturing equipment, heavy machinery, and potentially hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
    • Exposure to extreme weather conditions
    • Exposure to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection
    • Work in high places and confined spaces
    • Exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals
    • Work around moving mechanical parts
    • Work in hot and cold temperatures
