Job Summary:
The direct support professional (or “direct care worker,” “DSP”) provides services for consumers by following a support plan of care and implementation plan; identifying assigned tasks. Provide or assist developmentally disabled consumers in the community according to the authorized service. The assistance will include maintaining or improving self-care and daily living skills. Providing training in personal hygiene (i.e., bathing and oral hygiene), homemaking (i.e., cleaning, food preparation and laundry), social skills and behavioral assistance. Daily case notes and monthly documentation required. Community inclusion activities and documentation of training provided on non-residential events. Maintain quality service to each consumer entrusted in Greater Vision Family Care Home (“GVFCH”) care. A direct care worker participates in activities to safeguard the health, safety and wellness of the residents of the group home.
Residential Habilitation, Life Skills 1 and Personal Support services are intended to enhance the capacity of consumers to attain or maintain their health & independence. The purpose of this program is to reduce, prevent or delay inappropriate institutionalization of consumers and to preserve families through the provision of supportive services by direct care workers who have completed training and are professionally supervised.
Minimum Education, Skills, and Abilities:
•A high school diploma or GED
•Be eighteen (18) years of age
•Must be in good physical health as determined by a pre-employment physical and upon requestthereafter.
•Have the ability to communicate with the individuals with whom they are working
•The capability to provide direct assistance as required by individuals with whom they are working.
•Have at least one year of experience in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or childcare setting or workingwith persons with a developmental disability
•Meet all iBudget Waiver requirements for a DSP providing Residential Habilitation Services
Medication Certification training required
Special Requirement:
Direct care staff must be capable of demonstrating effective communication with the residents of the home as well as other individuals such as waiver support coordinators, Agency staff, family members of residents, and others who routinely interact with residential staff.
All direct cares staff must be mentally competent to comprehend, comply with, and implement all requirements provided by law and Agency rule for the provision of services rendered to residents of their facilities. In addition, they must be physically capable of performing duties for which they are responsible.
Shifts become available as needed: Weekdays 1-2 shifts Mon - Fri from 2-10pm
Weekends Sat & Sun 7 am-3pm & 2-10pm Apply Now
