We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our 3rd Shift team. Our third shift operates from 8:30PM to 7:00AM Monday evening thru Friday morning for (4) ten hour shifts with a 30 minute lunch. Overtime is worked on Sunday evenings when necessary. The ideal candidate will have experience in welding and fabrication, and be able to work independently or as part of a team. Under general supervision and using industry recognized safety procedures, employee will align, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms using knowledge of welding techniques, fabrication equipment, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use MIG, TIG, or Brazing equipment to join various metal components to print.
- Setup various forms of tooling including Bluco weld table tooling, part turners, proprietary weld fixtures, and misc. equipment tooling associated with metal fabrication.
- Prepares and cleans surfaces of parts prior to welding for optimal weld integrity.
- Read technical diagrams, prints, and production specifications with a focus on applying that knowledge to the fabricated component.
- Uses various inspection tools and methods to ensure the accuracy of fabricated goods when compared to specifications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Report to your immediate production manager for your given shift.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide assistance to new hires and colleagues as potential opportunities arise.
Requirements
EDUCATION: High School Diploma preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years of related experience preferred.
- Applicant must be proficient in MIG, TIG, and/or Brazing.
- Proven experience as welder as evidenced by a pre-employment weld test
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is preferred
- Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus
SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in English
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (MIG/TIG/SPOT Welders, Saws, Weld Tooling, etc.)
- Ability to determine the appropriate equipment, method, and settings to be used for welding each project
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Ability to use inspection tools to confirm accuracy of fabricated parts to engineering prints
- Ability to recognize standard metals and familiarity working with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc
- Ability to creatively consider processes and recommend improvements to bolster efficiency
- Ability to work within the confines of a standard employee handbook regarding attendance, discipline, off-work conduct
- Ability to perform essential shop math consisting of fractions, decimals, basic algebra, and geometry
- Ability to test equipment to ensure proper functionality and confirm desired output
