About the Department
This position is responsible for managing the acquisition, inventory, and distribution of automotive parts, tools, and supplies to support the operations of the Vehicle & Travel Services (VTS) garage. The employee performs duties in the parts department, including researching and sourcing OEM and aftermarket parts, maintaining accurate inventory records, processing vendor invoices, and coordinating deliveries and returns. The role also assists with new vehicle intake, vehicle disposal preparation, fuel inventory monitoring, and periodic cycle counts. A strong emphasis is placed on parts procurement accuracy, cost efficiency, and customer service to ensure timely support to mechanics, laborers, and other VTS staff. The position requires solid computer skills, knowledge of parts catalogs and inventory systems, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced garage environment.
