Description
Are you passionate about helping individuals navigate their recovery journey and build a healthier future? AMHC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor in Calais to provide assessment, counseling, and supportive services for individuals living with substance use disorders.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of individuals and families while working within a strong, integrated care team that includes mental health, recovery, and community-based supports.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide comprehensive substance use services, including assessments, individual, group, and family counseling, consultation, and community education.
 - Offer integrated behavioral health support by addressing both mental health and substance use needs.
 - Deliver Co-Occurring services to individuals with substance use and mental health diagnoses or developmental disabilities.
 - Maintain active engagement with clients and referral sources to support individualized treatment goals.
 - Support “No Wrong Door” philosophy by assisting clients and families with referrals and resource access.
 - Help clients navigate AMHC’s full continuum of care, including MAT, Residential, Peer Recovery, and Court-related services.
 - Provide transportation to clients when necessary through collaboration with local bus services.
 - Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with licensing and billing requirements.
 - Participate in regular team meetings and interdisciplinary case reviews.
 
What You Bring:
- Minimum of a CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor), LADC, or LCPC/LICSW with SUD experience preferred
 - Knowledge and experience in working with individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders
 - Strong communication and clinical documentation skills
 - Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
 - Familiarity with community resources and an interest in engaging with local support systems
 - Commitment to person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally respectful care
 - Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
