Requirements

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to support warehouse and distribution operations in 3 Key Areas: Warehouse, Volunteer, and PLD (Parking Lot Distributions). This job’s main duties are to provide exceptional customer service at public food distributions (PLD’s) and volunteer sessions, ensuring a positive experience for clients, partners, and volunteers. The Warehouse Specialist will safely operate equipment and vehicles, assist with inventory, and maintain a clean, compliant, and efficient work environment.


Essential Duties include but are not limited to:

· Facilitating and providing excellent customer service at our Parking Lot Distributions.

· Operate company vehicles in a safe manner.

· Provide direct support to our Volunteer Specialist with running volunteer sessions.

· Responsible for safe operation of equipment (forklift, reach truck, walkie rider, scissor lift).

· Support warehouse staff with picking orders, including in the refrigerator and freezer as needed.

· Develop a basic working knowledge of our current ERP (CERES)

· Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations including AIB (Food Safety standards) and company policies

· Work in a safe and professional manner.

· Assist in the warehouse requirement of maintaining high levels of sanitation and cleanliness.

· Help Inventory Supervisor and Inventory Control Clerk with weekly, monthly, and annual inventory counts.

· Provide support to warehouse staff in loading/ unloading of truck, as well as inventory put-away when needed.

· Aiding with Special Events.

· Participate in off-site food bank activities (i.e. Parking Lot Distributions, Mobile Harvests, CSFP (senior distributions, etc...)

· Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

· Ability to work independently.

· Have intermediate computer skills with Microsoft programs, email, and experience with inventory systems.

· Able to take direction well, using active listening skills, asking questions and taking notes if necessary.

· Ability to perform as an effective, positive team member.

· Impeccable ethical business practices.

· Ability to learn and become proficient with warehouse equipment in the stated timeframe: Electric jack (1 week), forklift and walkie rider (2 weeks), reach truck (30 day).


Qualifications


Required Education and Experience:

· Associate’s degree or Equivalent Experience (in lieu of degree).

· Possession of at a minimum a State of Nevada Class C Driver’s license, proof of insurance and excellent driving record.

· Specialized knowledge of Forklift use (certification required).

· Specialized knowledge of manual pallet jack is required.

· Possess specialized knowledge of food safety and handling procedures.

· Customer service or relationship management experience.

· Ability to pass a drug screen (marijuana included), background check and eligibility to be covered under the food bank’s vehicle insurance policy.


Preferred Skills & Experience:

· Ability to operate an electric pallet jack, reach truck, and a bailer.

· Specialized knowledge of or ability to learn (within 6 months) RFID technology/scan guns is necessary.


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment/ Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee regularly works in a warehouse setting with equipment.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods while driving, walk, stand, talk and hear. Able to lift 60 pounds. Repetitive squatting, bending, balancing, crouching, stooping, lifting and twisting required.

· Work in refrigerated units at temperatures below 30 degrees and as low as -5 degrees.

· Able to work in year-round outdoor conditions.

· May be required to push/pull pallets up to 2,000 lbs. with use of electric pallet jack.

· Knowledge and prior application of safe work practices and an attitude of safety awareness.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Normal days, Tuesday through Saturday with varying start times from 7am to 12pm. Days and hours may vary from normal schedule when program schedule adjusts, or other special events arise.


Travel
Local travel to various events may be required.
