Description

Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of people? We are looking for a Part Time In-Home Support Staff to work in a home with individuals with I/DD. This is an early evening position to provide companionship and support to 3 residents of home. Activites include: assistance with household skills, cooking, self care and taking out into community for recreation. See below for more information. 


ESSENTIAL  FUNCTIONS  AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Care and Services:

  • Verbal and non-verbal interactions with Residents reflect caring and respect
  • Promotes individual rights and independence
  • Conducts and documents assessments to implement and revise goals per the individuals request as instructed by supervisor.
  • Directly works with supported living coach or supervisor to coordinate care, goals, and services in a manner that avoids duplication of services. 
  • May be required to facilitate completion of appointments, grocery shopping, community engagement, hygiene care, and household maintenance as needed.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor
  • Documentation of services completed per policy and per regulatory agencies policies.
  • Monitors health and safety in a respectful manner, works with the individual and other service providers to determine goals or solutions to maintain health and safety.
  • Reports to immediate supervisor as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

RESIDENT RIGHTS:  Promotes resident;' rights, assists residents to make informed decisions, treats residents with dignity and respect, reports suspected abuse or neglect, and supports independent expression, choice and decision-making.


ENVIRONMENT OF CARE:  Demonstrates understanding of safety in mobility care and transportation, demonstrates understanding of safety and security procedures , applies safety and security precautions , demonstrates understanding  of hazardous environments and demonstrates proper use of equipment.


INFECTION CONTROL:  Applies hand washing principles during daily work; demonstrates understanding of isolation precautions; recognizes signs and symptoms of infection and complies with the employee health program; demonstrates understanding of the process for identifying and handling infectious waste; maintains personal hygiene ; complies with OSHA standards in the work place and demonstrates understanding of cross-contamination.


INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Ability to utilize basic computer programs, have a basic understanding of networking programs, and write professional service notes for upload in mandated documentation storage programs.  


INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Demonstrates active listening techniques, gains support through effective relationships, treats others with dignity and respect, seeks feedback , sets clear standards for performance. Utilizes proven behavioral motivation strategies to encourage independence and goal achievement.


CONTINUING EDUCATION:  Attends in-service as designated by supervisor


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   While performing the duties of this job , the employee is frequently required to stand and walk: use hands or fingers; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop or kneel.  The employee will assist in the transfer residents of varied weights and sizes.  The employee will follow facility protocol on use of mechanical lifts and transfer devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision .



Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pass a level II DCF background check
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements specific to 65G and F.S Chapter 393.
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Free of use from illegal use of drugs.
  • Free of use and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
  • High school diploma
  • 1 year experience in related field
  • 3 References

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to communicate with individuals and other service providers to provide support toward the individuals goals of independence. Must have an ability to assist and guide the individual utilizing respectful, person led approaches.  Ability to maintain professional behavior and utilize respectful problem solving strategies.
