POSITION TITLE:   Customer Service Clerk 12 month

REPORTS TO:  Director of Transportation  

POSITION SUMMARY:  Works with Transportation staff to ensure the highest quality customer service to all HSD customers.

 

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB  

 

Essential Functions  

Ensure an excellent customer experience by providing support and assistance to parents, students, and district staff related to communications with the Transportation department.

  1. Answers incoming calls to assist parents, students, and staff with questions and concerns regarding transportation information
  2. Follow-up on emails and phone calls directed to the Transportation Department
  3. Check voicemails and prioritizes assignment of related tasks to correct transportation staff
  4. Assist with coordination and organization of phone bank at the beginning of the school year   
  1. Maintain open communications with transportation staff, district administrators, and other district staff
  2. Utilize Student Information System and various transportation software to access information in order to provide customer service to all stakeholders
  3. All other duties as assigned by Director of Transportation

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. 

  1. Standing, walking, sitting, stooping or crouching, reaching, grasping, talking, hearing.
  2. Normal attention: with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, depth perception, and a field of vision that can be seen up and down or right to left while fixed on point, all required.
  3. Light physical demand with lifting of very light to light (1 to 25 lbs.) items by hand.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:

 

Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.  

Subject to both inside and outside working conditions, with some exposure to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases or poor ventilation, but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.     

 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  

 

Education:  Basic knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, English, and grammar.  Strong verbal and written communications skills are required.  High attention to accuracy in checking, posting, proofreading and counting.  

 

Experience:  Prefer a minimum of one year in the customer service industry with strong multi-line phone handling and conflict resolution. 

 

Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position: 

  1. Apply commonsense understanding to carry out one or two-step instructions.  Deal with standardized and complex situations.
  2. Add and subtract two digit numbers.  Perform the four basic arithmetic operations.
  3. Strong reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  4. Knowledge of how to prioritize and distribute critical situation communications
  5. Ability to work in a high pressure situations
  6. Must possess positive and highly effective “people skills."

Computer and related software, copy and fax machine, multi-line telephone.   

 

 

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Commercial Driver’s License-School Bus Permit with passenger and student endorsement.
