Job Summary
Purpose Statement: Under the supervision of the Director or designee, the Wellness Coach is a state-certified position established by California’s Department of Health Access and Information as part of the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative. The role of the Wellness Coach is to offer prevention and early intervention services that support the behavioral health and well-being of children and youth. This includes skills training, psychoeducation, system navigation, crisis de-escalation, safety planning, coping skills, and motivational interviewing. Wellness Coaches engage and support children and youth in cultural, linguistic, and age-appropriate services, with the ability to refer and link to higher levels of care, as needed. Behavioral health and related services performed may include, wellness promotion and education, screening, care coordination, individual and group support, and crisis referral.

Requirements / Qualifications
• Experience: Experience providing counseling and crisis intervention to children, adolescents, and their families preferred. Experience working with school systems preferred.
• Education: Associate degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Certification as Wellness Coach I or II from the California Department of Health Access and Information is required.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing: Must have Certified Wellness Coach I or II certification from the California Department of Health Access and Information, TB test clearance, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, if required to operate a vehicle during the course of employment, must possess a valid California Driver’s License and evidence of insurability.
10% pay differential for individuals who have Wellness Coach II Certification through the California Department of Health Access and Information
Salary Info
Initial salary placement is on the first step of range. EDCOE pays $600/month toward medical; no cost dental, life insurance, EAP, long term disability; $4.64/month vision; CalPERS retirement.
