Job Summary: Highland Community Unit School District No. 5, a PreK-12 district of 2,800 students located in the Metro-St. Louis area, is seeking a principal for the 2026-2027 school year for Highland Elementary School, grades 3-5 of approximately 600 students (full-time, 12 month position).

Position Overview
The Elementary School Principal serves as the instructional leader and administrative head of the school. This role is responsible for promoting a positive school culture, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, and managing school operations in alignment with district policies and educational best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of a shared vision for academic success.
Supervise, support, and evaluate instructional and support staff.
Create a safe, inclusive, and positive school climate for students, staff, and families.
Collaborate with teachers to analyze student performance data and implement effective interventions.
Foster strong family and community engagement.
Manage school resources, including budgets, schedules, and facilities.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal education laws and policies.

Qualifications
Required:

Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
Valid Illinois School Principal Certification or eligibility.
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience or comparable, preferably at the elementary level.
Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational setting.

Preferred:

Previous experience as a school administrator.
Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, particularly in elementary and middle school education.

Salary and Benefits
Salary Range may be between $90,000 and $100,000 based on experience and education, Full benefits package including health insurance contribution, retirement contributions, and professional development opportunities.
