Additional Information: Show/Hide Auxiliary Compensation Plan Salary Range: $17.00 - $20.48 /hour Shift Type: Full-Time Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Carpenter Supervisor EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To assist the carpenter in maintain all building and related entities in such a manner that students have a safe and comfortable place in which to learn.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Texas Driver’s License with less that three (3) moving traffic violations within the past three (3) years
Exhibit familiarity with building mechanics and skilled in the use of required tools.
Possess ability to work with and communicate with fellow workers, teachers, and administrators.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in carpentry preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Assist in the maintenance and repair of both internal and external building systems of the district.
Assist in the preventative maintenance and repairs of district facilities.
Assist in the operation and proper care of assigned vehicles and tools.
Assist with emergency repairs to school property due to vandalism or other disorders in order to provide safety and security.
Gather materials for workers to handle on job sites.
Keep job sites clean and machines serviced.
Measure materials or objects for installation or assembly, mark reference points on construction materials.
Fasten timbers or lumber with glue, screws pegs, or nails and install hardware.
Cut timbers, lumber, or paneling to specified dimensions.
Position and hold lumber in place for fastening or cutting.
Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands:
Comprehending simple instructions both written and verbal.
Writing simple correspondence.
Reading blue prints/schematics/work orders.
Physical demands/environmental factors:
Lifting and carrying items in excess of 100 lbs.
Pushing a wheelbarrow full of either dirt or concrete.
Stooping, bending, kneeling, and crawling.
Seeing with corrected vision to read tapes, squares, etc.
Exposure to weather extremes of hot and cold climate.
Breathing sawdust and sawdust particles.
Moderate to loud noise in the work environment.
