JOB PURPOSE / SUMMARY 

The Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the new car department, including inventory management, pricing strategies, sales team leadership, and customer satisfaction. This position plays a critical role in driving sales revenue and profitability for the dealership's new car segment. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the new car department, including inventory ordering, allocation, and maintenance. 
  • Work with manufacturers and distributors to ensure timely delivery and availability of new vehicle inventory. 
  • Set pricing strategies and oversee merchandising efforts to maximize profitability and showroom appeal. 
  • Lead the sales team in effectively marketing and selling new vehicles, including implementing sales promotions and incentives. 
  • Ensure excellent customer service throughout the sales process, from initial inquiry to vehicle delivery and beyond. 
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as finance and service, to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction. 
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to stay informed about pricing and inventory strategies. 
  • Handle escalated customer issues related to new vehicle sales and provide timely resolution. 
  • Maintain accurate records of new vehicle sales transactions and inventory management activities.  
  • Monitor Fresh inventory deliveries for pre-sold units. 
  • Monitor PDI’s to be complete within 5 days. 
  • Monitor CSI scores and train staff. 
  • Walk inventory daily watching for lot damage and making sure holes are filled 
  • Display inventory daily with specials. 
  • Make sure the showroom is always full. 
  • Monitor Kia allocation – order cars for reg allocation and KFOS based upon dealers needs/wants. 
  • Maintain professional appearance and follow code of conduct at all times. 
  • Monitor and train sales staff on all current incentives, specials, etc. by Kia. 
  • Be aware of all lease/finance specials. 
  • Kia sales challenges, promo’s, etc. 
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by providing training, coaching, and development opportunities to staff. 

Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Proven experience in automotive sales management, with a focus on new vehicles. 
  • Strong understanding of new car market dynamics, pricing strategies, and inventory management. 
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing sales team. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and dealership policies related to new vehicle sales. 
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and sales analytics tools. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.  
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.  
     

GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS 

  • CSI to achieve Platinum pay out (quarterly). 
  • Ensure inventory levels are maintained at a supply of 60 days or less, regularly check for duplicates, and prioritize the sale of aged units. 
  • #1 in district for sales volume. 
  • Specific metrics and results may vary as determined by management and are subject to change 
  • Specific metrics/quotas as given by selected manager. 
  • Ensure compliance with dealership standards and performance metrics, adapting strategies as needed to meet fluctuating monthly targets for dealership, region, and national metric benchmarks.
