AS9100 Project Lead – Independent Contractor (6-Month Project)

Job Type: Contract (1099 Independent Contractor)
Location: Canby, OR (onsite required)
Compensation: Competitive 1099 hourly/project rate (DOE)

Position Summary

Milwaukee Electronics is seeking an experienced AS9100 Project Lead (Independent Contractor) to help prepare our organization for upcoming AS9100 certification audits.

This role will play a critical part in ensuring our Quality Management System (QMS) and manufacturing processes meet all applicable requirements. The Project Lead will maintain the project plan and support leadership as we update, create, and implement AS9100-compliant processes.

The contractor will also assess readiness by performing internal audits, identifying nonconformances, and partnering with teams to implement corrective actions and best practices.

This is a 1099 contract project expected to last approximately 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate processes, procedures, records, and documentation for AS9100 compliance
  • Perform internal audits and follow up on audit findings
  • Support the execution of an AS9100 readiness plan in preparation for certification
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Quality) to align operations with AS9100
  • Provide training and coaching on AS9100 requirements, audit processes, and compliance practices
  • Assist in addressing external auditor questions and ensure readiness for audit day
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on AS9100 and related aerospace/defense quality standards

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing organizations for certification and surveillance audits
  • Proven auditing experience in an AS9100-certified or similar manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 standard or other ISO 9001-enhanced QMS
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor certification strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and reporting skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple levels of staff and leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, aerospace, or defense industries
  • Familiarity with NADCAP, ITAR, and DFARS compliance requirements
  • Experience training or mentoring staff in audit/QMS practices
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 requirements (current company certification)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move throughout a production/manufacturing facility during audits
  • Ability to review documents, records, and computer-based files for extended periods

Compliance Requirements

  • ITAR Requirement: This project may involve access to information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents, or individuals lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Contractor Status: This is a 1099 independent contractor role (not an employee position). Compensation is provided on an hourly/project basis; no company benefits are included.
