Primary Job Functions: The Assistant Principal is to assist the Principal in administering and supervising the educational program in the school, shall serve in the place of the Principal in the event of the Principal’s absence and has direct authority over staff and students as delegated by the Principal
Salary: Range $97,000 Commensurate with experience
FLSA Status: Exempt
Assigned Workday Calendar: 220 Days
Job Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday

Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree • Certification: Must hold Indiana Administrative Certification • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience, with experience as a teacher leader preferred • Other: Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community.
Essential Functions:
• In coordination with the Principal, will provide leadership to positively impact school personnel to strive for exemplary academic, social emotional, and behavioral standards to provide the best possible opportunities for student growth and development. • Supervise student attendance, reporting of attendance, and parent notifications. • Assist in the coordination of facility rentals and usage, and supervision of maintenance of building and grounds. • Supervise and assist with student activities, programs, athletics, convocations, special events, and attend special school sponsored activities, as determined by the Principal. • Share with the Principal the maintaining of student discipline including overseeing transportation related discipline. • Assist the Principal with school safety including working with the district Safety Director on drills, updates, and implementation of safety protocols. • Assist the Principal in the implementation and supervision, including staffing, case conferences, referrals for evaluation, of the building special education program, RTI/MTSS, English language program and plans, and 504 plans. • Serve as a member of school leadership teams and assist with the development of the school improvement plan. • Assist with the development of the master class schedule. • Share with the Principal the responsibility of curriculum development. • Assist the Principal in the development, implementation, and collaboration of the Avon PLC process across the school by all certified staff. • Work with the building Principal in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of certified and non-certified staff. • Be a champion of our mission for all students and staff to belong, learn, and grow with an intentional focus on optimizing learning for all student groups. • Supervise teaching assistants and instructional aides. • Assist with daily operations and general administration of the school, and with supervision of extracurricular activities. • Assist in supervision of substitute teachers and student teachers. • Oversee academic testing and assist with data analysis. • Assist in staff development. • Assist with the coordination of the special education and summer school programs. • Take an active interest in professional organizations to promote personal professional improvement. • In the absence of the Principal, accept the responsibility necessary in running, leading, and managing the middle school. • Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students. • Project a genuine care and concern for all students. • Any other duties may be assigned by the Principal and the Superintendent.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
