Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma;
Experience supervising children
Successful collaboration and problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, colleagues and administration
Possesses the physical ability to perform assigned duties.
Qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Summary: Hortonville Area School District playground/lunchroom aides are expected to challenge and encourage all students to reach their full potential within a positive and safe environment. Playground and lunchroom aides are also expected to build successful relationships with students, teachers, parents, and colleagues by providing clear expectations, and ongoing communication and support. Playground/lunchroom aides are expected to understand and implement social and emotional interventions support the district mission statement.

The playground/lunchroom aide shall understand and implement the following standards and indicators:
Playground/Lunchroom Aide Performance Standards
1. Student Developmental Knowledge The playground /lunchroom aide demonstrates an understanding of the growth stages and diverse needs of students.
Sample Performance Indicators Examples may include, but are not limited to:
Demonstrates an understanding of the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of the age group.
Links student behavior management strategies to real-life application.
Bases supervision on goals that reflect high expectations and understanding of the student.
Uses precise language, correct vocabulary and grammar, and acceptable forms of communication as it relates to interacting with children.
Demonstrates appropriate accommodations and modifications for diverse learners.
Supports and encourages students in building appropriate relationships with peers.
2.Supervision of Students The playground/lunchroom aide demonstrates effective supervision strategies to meet the needs of all students.
Sample Performance Indicators Examples may include, but are not limited to:
Builds strong relationships with students.
Establishes and manages effective routines and procedures in all areas of the school environment.
Actively supervises and supports students as necessary.
Communicates with colleagues, teachers and administration and other school personnel in order to meet individual student’s needs.
Adheres to school, district, legal, ethical and procedural requirements.
3.Positive School Environment The playground/lunchroom aide uses resources, routines and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that is conducive to student engagement and learning.
Sample Performance Indicators Examples may include, but are not limited to:
Understands and implements safety policies and procedures
Make safety a top priority.
Models a positive, helpful attitude.
Focuses on creating a cooperative atmosphere.
Teaches student proper social skills as students interact with peers.
4.Communication and Confidentiality The playground/lunchroom aide demonstrates behavior consistent with effective communication.
Sample Performance Indicators Examples may include, but are not limited to:
Collaborates and communicates effectively to promote student’s well-being and success.
Maintains confidentiality.
Builds positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, colleagues and all stakeholders.
Understands and implements the PBIS framework.
Adhere to all federal and state laws and mandates and board policies.
Effectively collaborates with families, building and district staff for student learning.
