SCHOOL HEALTH ASSISTANT, Full-Time

Hourly rate & benefits are included in the Paraeducator Bargaining Unit contract. Thirty (30) hours weekly and position follows the Griswold Public School’s calendar for student days. School location at this time is Griswold High School. Please note that should a union member be selected to transfer to this position, it could create a vacancy in another area.

General Description: The School Health Assistant is responsible for assisting the school nurse in implementing procedures, policies, and health services to students and in promotion good health and safety practices in the school and home setting.

Qualifications: Training in First Aid and CPR or enrollment in such courses with the requirement that both be successfully completed prior to commencement of employment. Experience and interest in working with children, skills in multi-tasking, communication, interpersonal relations, teaming, organization, and task commitment are essential. Must be physically able to perform demands of the job including standing, sitting, walking, bending, crouching, twisting, reaching, and lifting students. Candidate should provide a passing Para Pro Assessment. Details can be provided to candidates on how to take the Para Pro Assessment.
