About the Department

  • We’re hiring up to 10 temporary Fantasy Lights employees at $17.38/Hour.
  • The job entails outdoor work, during evening hours.  
  • Fantasy Lights will run from 11/22/25 to 1/4/2026.  
  • Shifts are typically 3-4 times per week, with hours from 4:30 – 9:30 p.m.
  • Temporary positions do not receive benefits.

Position Duties

We are excited about this opportunity for you to join Pierce County in a temporary (extra hire) role as a Fantasy Lights worker. You will participate in spreading holiday cheer as you be direct traffic for cars driving through Spanaway Park to view the area's largest and most exciting light display. You will have the opportunity to learn about the Parks and Recreation department, see firsthand how large events run, and gain valuable work experience.

Pierce County Parks and Recreation manages over 5,200 acres of open space, trails, developed and undeveloped parks.  We provide recreation programs and infrastructure in active and passive parks and trails. The department consists of three divisions: Parks and Recreation, Administration, and Resource Stewardship. Our mission is to be a leader in creating livable communities by providing opportunities for people to connect with nature, learn about sustainable practices, live healthy lifestyles, and enjoy vibrant community spaces.

You will need to enjoy working outdoors in a physical capacity and not be afraid of Washington's varied weather. Your commitment and dedication will help to make this amazing light show a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience for all.

  • Provide customer service
  • Direct traffic in an organized structure

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age and older
  • Must be available for varied shifts (evenings, weekends, and holidays)
