Avathon is seeking a Logistics Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise across Army sustainment functions, including transportation, ammunition, distribution, and maintenance. The ideal candidate is a recently separated or retired U.S. Army logistics officer (O4-O5 preferred) who can combine operational logistics expertise with product management experience to shape and deliver innovative AI-driven logistics solutions.
This role bridges the gap between operational knowledge and technology development, ensuring Avathon’s solutions align with real-world sustainment challenges and user needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise in Army sustainment operations, with emphasis on logistics planning and execution in transportation, ammunition, distribution, and maintenance.
- Translate operational logistics requirements into product features and capabilities for Avathon’s AI and autonomy platforms.
- Collaborate with product team, engineers, and defense customers to ensure solutions meet mission needs.
- Support business development and capture teams with logistics insights, operational concepts, and customer engagement.
- Develop use cases, workflows, and operational scenarios that inform product design and implementation.
- Participate in customer demonstrations, workshops, and field exercises to represent the operational perspective.
- Mentor and guide cross-functional teams on sustainment concepts and Army logistics structures.
- Contribute to proposals, white papers, and solution designs with expertise in sustainment doctrine and operations.
Required Qualification:
- US Citizenship Required
- 10+ years of experience in Army sustainment functions, including transportation, ammunition, distribution, and maintenance
- Proven leadership and staff experience in logistics planning and execution
- Product management or program management experience
- Ability to translate operational challenges into technical requirements and solutions
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Active DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one
Preferred Qualification:
- Recently separated or retired U.S. Army logistics officer (O4-O5 level preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across military and technical teams
- Familiarity with Army sustainment doctrine, force structure, and enterprise resources
- Software Product Management
