ROLE OUTLINE
The Manufacturing Excellence Leader plays a critical role in driving operational excellence across BlueScope Buildings North America. This role provides strategic and professional guidance to leadership and operations teams, focusing on continuous improvement, capital investment planning, project execution, preventive /predictive maintenance development/execution, and the adoption of best practices and new technologies. The Leader ensures alignment with business goals and fosters a culture of innovation and efficiency across all manufacturing sites while leading and developing the managers within their team.
Key Focus Areas
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across BBNA manufacturing facilities to enhance productivity, quality, safety and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Provide strategic input and analysis for capital budget allocation, ensuring alignment with business priorities and ROI expectations.
- Manage and oversee capital projects from concept through execution, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Develop and supervise an effective team by providing specific and actionable expectations.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement best practices and new technologies to improve manufacturing performance, reliability, and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to develop and execute site-specific improvement plans.
- Facilitate cross-functional teams, Product Excellence, Innovation, and plants to ensure product changes/new products can be manufactured properly and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics and dashboards to track progress and impact of initiatives.
- Support the development and deployment of standardized processes and systems across all sites.
- Act as a change agent, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Provide coaching and training to site teams on continuous improvement processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, and other improvement methodologies.
Foundational Experience
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing operations, continuous improvement, preventive/predictive maintenance, and project management. Experience in the metal buildings or construction products industry is highly desirable. The candidate should be a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience: To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or related field.
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing.
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Experience managing capital projects and budgets.
- Contract development and management experience
Desired Qualifications: To be considered an ideal candidate, you should possess some or all of the following qualifications:
- Proven capabilities successfully managing/implementing preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
- Management of projects, such as plant start-ups, shutdowns, restructuring, and equipment purchases over $5M.
- Experience in equipment schematics and documentation
- Knowledge of BlueScope Buildings products and pre-engineered building industry
