The Opportunity:

 

The Senior Manager, Production Design leads the production design and QC teams within the Operations team, overseeing the execution of high-volume, multi-channel creative assets that support marketing and brand initiatives. This role manages and mentors Production Designers and Proofers, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and excellence in all deliverables. The Senior Manager serves as the bridge between creative strategy and flawless execution—translating creative concepts into scalable, brand-aligned production output across digital, print, retail, and social channels.

 

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership (30%): Supervise and mentor Senior/Production Designers and Senior Proofer, providing guidance, feedback, and support for professional growth.
  • Creative Production & Workflow Management (30%): Assign projects, balance workloads, and ensure deadlines are met across multiple production streams.
  • Production Design Execution (20%): Lead and drive production design deliverables across various platforms.
  • Strategic Oversight (20%): Ensure work supports business needs; identify consistent challenges that impact team and deliverables, lead cross-functionally to solve and implement changes.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of professional production design experience, preferably in beauty, fashion, lifestyle, or retail industries
    • 6+ years in a senior or lead role in production design with advanced experience in both digital and print assets (proofing experience a plus)
    • 3+ years of people management skills leading teams of 5+ people in Senior/Production Design/Creative roles
    • 4+ years of advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and deep understanding of print and digital production standards
    • 2+ years proficiency in Figma, After Effects, Smartsheet, Monday.com, Ziflow, and Microsoft Suite (including SharePoint)
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Design or equivalent experience

    • Manage and develop a team of Production Designers across multiple disciplines

    • Provide coaching, mentorship, and training to elevate technical expertise and career growth
  • Creative Production Oversight:

    • Ensure accurate execution of design files across multiple platforms
    • Oversee versioning, resizing, and localization needs while maintaining brand consistency
    • Partner with Art Directors, Senior Designers, and Writers to ensure creative concepts translate effectively into final deliverables
  • Workflow & Process Management:

    • Build and optimize production workflows for efficiency, scalability, and quality control
    • Collaborate with Resource and Agency Management to allocate resources
    • Establish and enforce quality standards, including pre-press checks and file management protocols
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work with Marketing and Creative to align production design output with campaign objectives
    • Partner with Technology teams to ensure digital assets are technically sound
    • Utilize Monday.com for project resourcing
  • Strategic Input & Continuous Improvement:

    • Support tools, templates, and automation solutions to improve production efficiency
    • Conduct ongoing review of processes, identifying challenges and implementing solutions
    • Stay current with production design trends, software, and technologies
    • Provide input on resourcing needs and vendor partnerships

 

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work environment with 2 days per week in the office (San Francisco)
  • Potential for international travel once per year
  • Managing teams across multiple disciplines with different priorities and needs
  • Serving as a subject matter expert, diplomatically advocating for business and team needs

The annual base salary range for this position is $151,810.00 - $169,670.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
