To act as the lead on-site for the security and IT systems at Stanton Territorial Hospital with regards to facility maintenance and repair, on site safety, equipment efficiency, statutory compliance on security IT  systems, performance as well as reporting on deficiencies and long-term improvement projects. financial aspects, life cycle development provision and execution and providing improved performance though coaching and feedback to all stakeholders. The position directly overviews the performance and activities of all Security IT sub-contractors while working at the facility and provides support services for, Plant Services with regards to CMMS tasks that relate back to the Security IT systems.      
 

Specific Accountabilities

As the Maintenance IT Technician you will be working directly with the department heads and the Facility General Manager, as such you will provide direction for all IT, and health and safety issues and take responsibility for overall performance including financial, compliance issues, security daily actions and event, operational efficiencies, though the collection and reporting on all performance data and daily reports. The Maintenance IT Technicain will be responsible for delivering operational improvement initiatives and managing all aspects of projects initiated for the facility, including the initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and closing phases, budgets and stakeholder communication, while following up to ensure current practices are being complied with. The position will involve liaising with department employees on overall performance, as well as management of operational and financial aspects of all the health and safety and IT deliverables. You will be responsible for ensuring that aspects of the Project Agreement are in compliance with the requirements of the agreement and take into account, best practices, company policies and procedures, legislative and labor requirements.

The Maintenance IT Technician will be responsible for ensuring that aspects of the Project Agreement are in compliance with the requirements of the agreement and consider, best practices, company policies and procedures, legislative and labor requirements. The facilities maintenance manager is responsible for maintaining system performance within the parameters set out in the performance contract defined in the services contract (Project Agreement) and will assist in collecting data and reporting on those measurable deliverables.

           

Your work will include, but not limited to: 

  • Participate in all scheduled and ad-hoc meetings in relation to hospital operations
  • Walk-through facility and providing IT reports on noted issues
  • Write comprehensive month end reports including relevant statistics
  • Recommendations for optimizing security and security IT operations
  • Gather, catalog and assemble O&M manuals and training documentation for all IT events
  • Create retraining plan and implements for Maintenance staff
  • Representing the department with a positive and professional attitude
  • Adherent to the occupational health and safety acts and other legislative enactments
  • Meets with sales representatives to look to expand our IT delivery services to the facility and possibly local community
  • Maintaining relationships with all external and internal project stakeholders through effective communication practices.
  • Developing new or updated scopes of work and safety best practices:
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of the yearly IT budget:
  • Establishing effective control and inspection measures for security IT system:
  • Conducting quality audits thought the facility for security hazards:
  • Conducting Health and Safety audits throughout the facility:
  • Handling the roll out and communication for all IT projects change orders or minor works, including submitting quotes and creating invoicing.
  • Identifying deliverable security risk trends and ensuring mitigating actions are in place to minimize impact:
  • Working with department head to develop updated scope of works that are including but not limited to the completion of Annual Protocols, Training & Development programs, establishment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for department within Project Agreement timelines:
  • Documenting all Lifecycle competing including invoicing back to Project Co for all works completed and tracking any work done in advance of Lifecycle so that invoices will happen as per the Project Agreement:
  • Identifying and developing business continuity stratagems by ensuring mitigating actions are in place to minimize impact in conjunction with the appropriate department manager.
  • Managing and supporting all aspects of Invoicing Inventory & Accounting practices at the facility:  
  • Monthly Account Performance Reporting responsibilities which include but are not limited to the Monthly and Bi Yearly Performance Accounting Reports and Performance Monitoring Reports:
  • Facilitate or participate in meetings related to operational improvements initiatives:
  • Assist the Facility General Manager with sourcing and bid submission for potential new business within the Northwest Territories:
  • Perform a quarterly documentation audit for department, implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with the Project Agreement:
  • Conducting yearly risk evaluations and audits:

 

Strategic Vision

  • The Maintenance IT Technician will review current equipment and systems and provide oversite to both the Assistant General Manager and the Facility General Manager on improvements to the facility security IT system operations through upgrades and lifecycle changeovers.
  • The Maintenance IT technician will work with the Plant Service Chef Engineer to deliver on operational stability of the security IT systems
  • The Maintenance IT Technician will work with the Performance Manager on the 5-year maintenance and the 5-year lifecycle plans and redraft them yearly for submission in accordance with the Partnership Agreement.

 

Leadership

  • The Maintenance IT Technician will provide daily oversight of all security IT systems working at the facility.

 

Business Development

  • The Maintenance IT technician will, with the yearly protocol submission, add an appendix dedicated to new projects, facility improvements, risk analysis and safety opportunities.
  • The Maintenance IT technician will work to anticipate requested collateral from NTHSSA and work to have reporting automated so that it is supplied to NTHSSA directly.

 

Operational Efficiency

  • The Maintenance IT technician will oversee all property IT contractors and ensure OHS compliance.
  • Will use Lenel and Milestone trending results to improve on compliance.
  • Will use Lenel trending results to improve utility consumption.
  • Will review PPM logs as oversite for early intervention on facility IT systems.
  • Will review CMMS trending as oversite for early intervention on facility and/or security issues.
  • Will ensure yearly training requirements and/or certifications for Security Services or Maintenance as required employees.
  • Will create work around plans for any unexpected IT events to provide mitigations to avoid loss of facility operations or service deliveries.

Working Conditions

  • Work will be conducted in the onsite Dexterra offices as well as within the entire facility itself. Must be on call or have designated on call when not available for 24/7/365 response.
  • Must be able to have a flexible work schedule that would allow for emergency call outs to the facility.

 

Qualifications:
  • 5+ Year in IT management
  • 5+ Years in hospital security
  • Certification in IT services
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry experience in appropriate field of IT study or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of department head level experience in budgeting and running financial reports.
  • 4+ years of department head or equivalent experience in security or policing.
  • 4+ years of performance or operational IT management experience, including tracking and planning projects
  • 2+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment
  • 1+ years of previous experience with gathering requirements from the client / business and documentation
  • 1+ years of experience with full product lifecycle with understanding of development lifecycle and various technology methodologies that support that lifecycle
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders and / or Senior Leadership 
  • Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs
  • Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas in order to achieve a common business objective
  • Interpersonal skills to influence and spur change, facilitate and enhance performance within a cross - functional environment
  • Demonstrate decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities
  • PMP certification is considered an asset;
  • Proven experience managing small to medium projects and the associated stakeholders;
  • Experience working with various levels of government
