Reporting directly to the Director Market Access, DACH, the Field Market Access Manager is responsible for executing market access strategies within an assigned region—such as Northern or Southern Germany—to ensure optimal patient access to therapies. Working closely with the Director Market Access DACH and cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Medical), the role focuses on: Implementing regional pricing and reimbursement tactics, engaging with local payers and healthcare stakeholders, addressing access barriers at hospital and office-based account level in cardiology care. The Field Market Access Manager contributes to regional insights and data analysis, tactical solutions to support successful reimbursement outcomes, strategic input to align local execution with the broader commercial objectives. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, a deep understanding of regional healthcare dynamics, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating proactively across functions.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management
- Support commercial Key Account Managers with face-to-face, personal and individual HCP education on regional and local reimbursement regulations in order address questions regarding funding of high-value specialty care medicines in cardiology.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regional payers, sick funds, SHI physicians’ associations, hospital controllers, retail pharmacists, and other healthcare decision-makers.
- Engage with drug evaluation committees and payer organizations to facilitate patient access and reduce funding barriers.
- Represent the company in compliant interactions, offering value-added solutions to support access and reimbursement.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Visit HCPs together with commercial Key Account Managers, on a regular basis
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Medical and other internal teams to align on access priorities and ensure coordinated execution.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects that enhance regional access and create win-win solutions with stakeholders.
- Provide tools, training, and insights to support field teams in overcoming market access barriers and pricing concerns of HCPs.
Data, Insights & Policy Monitoring
- Monitor and analyze regional healthcare developments, policy changes, and reimbursement trends.
- Collect and interpret local data to inform strategic planning and tactical execution.
- Share insights with internal teams to optimize market access approaches and anticipate challenges.
Communication & Training
- Develop and deliver training presentations for sales teams and external stakeholders on relevant health policy, pricing, and reimbursement topics, tailored to specialty cardiology issues.
- Create and adapt materials that communicate the value of innovative specialty care products in a way that resonates with regional stakeholders.
- Present complex market access topics in a clear, audience-appropriate format at internal and external events.
Project & Event Management
- Plan, manage, and monitor regional projects, including contracts and agreements with payers, in coordination with the DACH Management Team.
- Organize and lead access-related events such as expert meetings, roundtables, and commercial meetings in both hospital and outpatient settings.
- Use both digital and analogue channels to engage with stakeholders and support collaboration.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Educational Background
- A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced university degree is preferred—ideally in natural sciences, healthcare-related fields, economics or business administration.
- Additional qualifications in health economics, health policy, or market access are considered a strong asset.
Industry Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry, with a focus on market access, health policy, or reimbursement.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in regional market access or related field-based roles, with a proven track record of executing access strategies operatively at the customer level.
Healthcare System Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of the German healthcare system and self-administration structures, including legal frameworks for pricing and reimbursement in both outpatient and inpatient sectors.
- A resilient network of regional stakeholders within the German healthcare system, particularly with sick funds and payor bodies.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement, with the ability to build and maintain influential networks across regional healthcare institutions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex healthcare and policy topics in a clear, audience-appropriate and convincing manner.
- High motivation, goal orientation, and a collaborative yet independent working style.
Cross-functional and Digital Competence
- Experience working in matrixed, fast-paced environments and managing cross-functional projects.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple complex initiatives simultaneously and deliver results on time.
- IT-savvy, with proficiency in modern digital communication tools and MS Office applications
Strategic & Analytical Thinking
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with a passion for translating complex interrelationships into actionable insights.
- Interest in health policy developments and their impact on market access and reimbursement.
Language and Travel
- Native-level fluency in German and business-fluent English, both written and spoken.
- Willingness to travel regularly across the assigned region and the broader DACH area, including frequent overnight trips.
