Internal Redeployment Only - Lecturer Occupational Therapy
We are seeking a full-time Lecturer to join the Occupational Therapy team within the School of Healthcare Sciences.
In this role, you will be supported to deliver high-quality teaching and contribute to the development of our education programmes. You will support students to develop key skills at undergraduate and/ or postgraduate levels. The successful candidate will pursue excellence in teaching and scholarship.
We are looking for someone with a passion for student-focused, innovative teaching. You should be well-organised, collaborative, and demonstrate leadership qualities.
Applicants should hold a postgraduate degree at PhD level, and possess relevant clinical expertise. Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential. An enhanced criminal records declaration will be required.
As part of their probation individuals will be supported to participate in the Cardiff University Education and Fellowship Programme which will give you with accreditation as a Higher Education Academy Fellow on completion of the programme.

This post is offered at Grade 6 or Grade 7, is full-time (35 hours per week) and is open-ended. The post is based at Heath Park.

Salary: £41,064 - £46,049 per annum (Grade 6) or £51,753 - £56,535 per annum (Grade 7). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.

Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Contribute to the facilitation of learning and scholarship activities within the undergraduate and post-qualification provision within the School, including the development, delivery, assessment and evaluation of modules/programmes. Offer support to students via the personal tutee system, supervise students’ research projects and to carry out administrative duties within the work area as required. To pursue excellence in teaching and scholarship/research and to inspire others to do the same.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching
Design and deliver teaching on the Occupational Therapy and other relevant programmes as part of a module team and lead modules.
Grade 7: independently contribute to module and course development and lead modules
Inspire undergraduate and postgraduate students under the guidance of a mentor / module leader and develop skills in assessment methods and in providing constructive feedback to students.
Supervise the work of students including the supervision of Undergraduate and Masters students and the co-supervision of Postgraduate Research students.
Grade 7: Acts as a PGR progress review panel member as required
Supply pastoral care through both acting as a Personal Tutor and providing support and guidance to students, building and establishing trust.
Scholarship
Contribute to scholarship in the area of work through participation in conferences, seminars and other academic and professional forums to disseminate the results of individual scholarship.
Engage in scholarly activity through journal articles and/or outputs which advance knowledge within the area of work.
Contribute to scholarship through interdisciplinary working with individuals and teams within, and external to, the wider university community.
Carry out other forms of scholarship including work associated with assessments (setting and marking papers and providing constructive feedback to students), administration, and participation in committee work.
Other
To engage effectively with industrial, commercial and public sector organisations, professional institutions, other academic institutions etc., regionally and nationally to raise awareness of the School’s profile, to cultivate strategically valuable alliances, and to pursue opportunities for collaboration across a range of activities. These activities are expected to contribute to the School and the enhancement of its regional and national profile.

Qualifications and Education
Postgraduate degree at PhD level or above in a related subject area and a registrable qualification in Occupational Therapy.
Grade 7 - Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Evidence of continuing professional development and a growing portfolio of scholarship.
Teaching experience at undergraduate/postgraduate level (may include practice education) significant experience at Grade 7

Demonstrate specialist knowledge and an understanding of current advancements, disseminating this within occupational therapy.
