The assembler assembles aerospace sheet metal products by working at a bench and on the shop floor.Who are we?

Duties & Responsibilities
- Reads and understands drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances of a finished assembly, the sequence of operations, and set-up requirements.
- Positions parts following blueprints, fixturing, and operations sheets.
- Trims, fits, and fastens parts together with bolts, screws, rivets, and adhesive.
- Operates various hand tools, tooling fixtures and machines such as belt sander, saw, grinder, riveting machine, drill press, and shear.
- Uses precision measuring instruments, including but not limited to calipers, indicators, and scales.
- Performs basic resistance welding.
- Understands customer specifications as they relate to the operation being performed.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to customer requirements.
- Understands and practices Lean Manufacturing principles and 6S.
- Correctly logs jobs in and out for labor reporting systems.
- Follows all safety rules including PPE requirements while performing tasks.
- Properly handles and manages hazardous waste generated in their work area.
- Willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.
Physical Demands& Work Conditions
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Annual baseline hearing test is required.
- Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by safety standards.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts.
- Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and airborne particles.
- Noise level is usually loud.
- Hearing protection is required.
- Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.
- Fully enclosed shoes of solid, leather construction with a steel or composite toe cap (ANSI Z41 compliant) must be worn in all manufacturing areas.
Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 to 6 months’ aerospace assembly experience is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude required.
- Math Skills – decimals, percentages, fractions required; geometry and trigonometry preferred.
- Computer Skills – able to learn new screens, reports, functions, software programs and internal ERP systems.
Must qualify for any and all required certificates.
This is a generic job posting for an Assembler. Depending on the candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience, they will be hired into an entry (I) level, intermediate (II) level or expert (III) level job and pay scale.
Pay rate: $18.00 - $20.00/hour
