Under the supervision of the wound care team, you will be responsible for assisting with dressing changes to patients and assisting the wound care team as directed. This includes dressing changes, when supervised by WCN, and reporting changes in the wound to the wound care team. Also support pressure ulcer prevention (PUP) education and supply management/stock. Interact with patients, families and the healthcare team to help promote wound healing.
Responsibilities:Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
*Assists Wound care team providers in daily wound care evals, treatments, and procedures as directed.
*Assists with stocking wound care supplies, supply charges, cleaning and maintaining equipment
*Assists in patient care as needed to ensure good skin care is being maintained
Assists in pressure ulcer prevention and education to staff
- Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills to effectively collaborate with patients and the healthcare team.
Must be compassionate and have the ability to empathize with patients
- Able to follow instructions and take direction when given
Education
High School Diploma/GED Equivalent is Required
Educational Requirements
CERTIFIED/REGISTERED Medical Assistant, through a nationally recognized association
(AAMA; AMT).
Experience
1 year of experience in Wound Care is Preferred
Certifications and Licensures
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant is Required
Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant through a nationally recognized association* is Required
Current BLS certification is Required
*CERTIFIED/REGISTERED Medical Assistant, through a nationally recognized association (AAMA; AMT), is required within 6 months of hire or within 6 months of March 1, 2017.
