In this role, you will lead control system efforts of several experimental testbeds, and also interface with our EE and software teams on control system concepts, design, validation.
Compensation & Benefits:
Incentive Eligible – Range posted is inclusive of bonus target when applicable
The pay range for this role is $160,000 – $200,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead development of in-lab control system implementation, optimizing testbed efficiency and identifying technology and methodology improvement opportunities.
Review scientific results from experimental systems to identify and implement improved processes and areas for further investigation.
Serve as the primary technical interface with the EE and control system software teams identifying, planning, and validating technical roadmap control system milestones.
You will perform design trade studies and analysis.
You will present scientific results at conferences or in publications.
You will develop project plans, schedules, and budgets to deliver as part of a broader company strategy.
YOU MUST HAVE:
PhD completed prior to starting.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience (PhD inclusive) involving one or more of the following areas: quantum computing, experimental control system development, quantum information, atomic physics, and electronics design.
Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
10 years’ experience in scientific research and development, engineering, or leadership roles.
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Experience with laser cooling and trapping of ions or neutral atoms.
Experience performing simulation and modeling to inform design and experiments.
Experience with laser systems, especially frequency-stabilized diode lasers, optical cavities, and phase or intensity feedback loops.
Experience with cryogenic systems.
Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems.
Experience with electro-optic devices, including photodetectors and light modulators.
Experience designing and testing micro-optical systems.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results within their field of research.
