Position Description

The Office of the Provost is committed to maintaining and enhancing the quality of students’ educational experiences and academic support services. The office also serves as the focal point for dialogue in the formulation and maintenance of policies, procedures, and guidelines for all academic affairs of Post University.

The Student Assistant reports to the Assistant Provost to support the overall office and daily activities. This would include standard housekeeping tasks such as organization, inventory, document management and email monitoring. They will also help administer office events surrounding commencement and Provost meet and greets. As student workers and leaders of Post University, the Student Assistant will serve as a resource and representative of the university. 

Location: Post University Main Campus, Provost Office

Supervisor: Jessica DePalmer, Executive Assistant to the Chief Academic Officer & Provost

Pay: $16.35/hr

This is an academic year-round opportunity. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of office supplies and snacks for the Office and Alert the Executive Assistant with any necessary orders to be made

• Assist with monitoring Academic Affairs email from office technology 

• Assist in Marketing efforts of the office using professional software for marketing creation (Canva, Adobe InDesign, etc.)

• Maintain Bulletin Boards around academic buildings on main campus 

• Ensure Associate Faculty lounge is fully stocked with office supplies and maintain a working relationship with Associate Experience for other supplies

• Assist in Associate Faculty events, professional development experiences, and overall support 

• Assist in the creation and maintenance of the Center for Teaching and Learning, a space for Associate Faculty resources 

• Maintain regular office hours 

• Meet weekly with the Executive Assistant to the Provost to provide project updates

• Assist with Classroom Assistant support and point of contact when issues arise

• Provide encouragement and foster a welcoming environment within the Office of the Provost for both faculty and students

• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Skills, Training, and Attributes 

• Current MC student at Post University

• Proficiency using Teams and other Microsoft Products

• Familiarity with Canva and Adobe InDesign

• Solution Seeker for new and innovative office practices

• Excellent communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and interpersonal conversation.

• Organization and planning skills

• Collaboration and teamwork skills

• Ability to engage with students and faculty online and in-person

• Patience, empathy, and compassion with a positive and encouraging attitude.

• Attentive to details

• Willingness to learn by embracing technology and emphasizing a growth mindset

• Brings positive energy & motivation to the department

• Strong time management and organizational skills

• Ability to problem solve in active environment 

• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above 

• Are in good academic and judicial standing
