Burma Food Group is a skilled and experienced ASSISTANT KITCHEN MANAGER to play a critical role in supporting the Executive Chef in managing the kitchen and ensuring that all dishes reflect the authentic flavors of one of our Southeast Asian inspired restaurants nestled in the heart of the peninsula. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 + years of experience in the restaurant industry with a strong flair of creating mouthwatering dishes, menu development and the ability to aspire and mentor a team of culinary professionals.
As an ASSISTANT KITCHEN MANAGER, you will work alongside our Executive Chef to manage day to day kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation of high-quality food and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. You will help head a talented kitchen team, support staff-development, and ensure the consistent delivery of excellent food and service.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking and plating
- Supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff to ensure proper food handling, cooking techniques and safety practices
- Ensure the consistency of food quality, presentation and portion control
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and receiving ingredients and supplies
- Enforce food safety and cleanliness standards, ensuring compliance with local health regulations
- Collaborate with Front-of-House (FOH) team to ensure seamless communication and an outstanding dining experience for guests
- Help in menu development, testing new dishes and creating daily specials
- Lead by example, demonstrating strong organizational skills and working efficiently under pressure
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Assistant Kitchen Manager or in a similar role in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
- Strong culinary knowledge and skills with a passion for food and creating memorable dishes
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and health regulations
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and work well under pressure
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with both kitchen and Front-of-House (FOH) staff
- Ability to acquire a California Food Handlers and Sexual Harassment certification (before or within 2 + weeks of hire date)
