Salary Range: £35,000-£40,000 per annum depending on relevant experience

About the Role
Reporting to the R&D Manufacturing Supervisor we are looking for a Composite Layup and Build Technician to support project delivery commitments, working within the operations team on manufacturing and UAV build tasks.
You should be an experienced composite laminator of high integrity prototypes or small batches with a wider understanding of general workshop practices who is organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work on your own or as part of a small team.
Responsibilities
- Laminate carbon and glass composite prototype structures.
- Build complex UAVs from a kit of parts by diligently following engineering instructions.
- Laying up of composite structures in accordance with engineering instructions.
- Building UAVs in accordance with engineering instructions and to the delivery schedule.
- Writing up process notes and completing documentation.
- Working collaboratively with the wider team to meet deadlines.
Health & Safety
- Demonstrate in daily activities a commitment to health and safety in the workplace by always ensuring tasks are performed in the safest possible manner.
- Report all hazards and incidents that the individual is party to, or observes, in the correct manner.
- When required or directed, participate in any health and safety training.
- Helping maintain safe and tidy workshops.
About You
Skills and competencies
Essential experience:
- Working with carbon and glass fabrics, core materials and resins.
- Preparing moulds for lay-up.
- Use a range of different layup methods including wet lay, prepreg, forged carbon moulding and infusion.
- Working with Engineering to solve problems.
- General workshop experience – machining, assembly, soldering etc.
- Following both written and verbal work instructions.
Desirable:
- Radio-controlled vehicles or the aerospace industry.
- Assembly of prototype/small batch electro-mechanical devices.
Personal Attributes
- Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK
- Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK
- Strong communication skills.
- Able to work as part of team.
- Strong attention to detail.
