Job Description Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Microbiologist to lead and support biosecurity initiatives across all Aviagen operational regions. This position plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the health status of our breeding programs by auditing, monitoring, and advising on microbiological risk factors and sanitation practices across all operational layers.If you are passionate about microbiology, love to travel, and thrive in both collaborative and independent environments, this is the opportunity for you. Job Description:
- Oversight of microbiology operations to provide microbiology related support to all regions
- Develop and maintain protocols across USA hatcheries, farms, feed mills and supporting infrastructure to enhance biosecurity and microbiological integrity.
- Conduct regional microbiological monitoring and implement investigative sampling strategies in response to risk events.
- Standardize and enhance biosecurity protocols across facilities, ensuring alignment with internal policy, regulatory compliance, and compartmentalization standards.
- Lead and support training programs on biosecurity, sampling techniques, and hygiene standards for all applicable staff.
- Collaborate with internal teams to respond to investigations, quality concerns, and audit findings in a timely, data-driven manner.
- Support and advise on cleaning and disinfection strategies based on current microbiological science.
- Provide microbiology-related expertise and cross-functional support to production, feed mill, hatchery, and veterinary teams as directed.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related field required; Master’s in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or Agricultural Biosciences is a plus.
- Experience in HACCP a plus.
- Must be based in North Central Alabama.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in veterinary and clinical microbiology.
- Experience in practical process microbiology or training with a knowledge of laboratory techniques in microbiology.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently (approx. 65%) across the United States.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently for extended periods.
- Time management. Ability to prioritize objectives, planning, monitoring and analysis.
- Effective computer skills and data analysis.
