REPORTS TO: The Registered Dietitian/Elementary Operations Coordinator works under the supervision of the Director of Food and Nutrition Services and the School Nutrition Program Specialist.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Coordinate department operations in all elementary schools. Support school staff, school nurses and central office staff. Implements wellness initiatives. Assists in the education and supervision of cafeteria staff. Complete menus, develop recipes and maintain special diets in accordance with USDA regulations.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assists in the supervision of staff and the total operation of all schools. 2. Completes menu, recipe development and production records for programs according to USDA regulations. 3. Maintain current nutrition and allergy information on food items. Keep nurses and community informed of the nutrition and allergy information. Maintain allergies in POS system. 4. Complete nutritional analysis on menus and make recommendations for improvements. 5. Support and supervise Summer Food Service Program Staff. 6. Coordinate and markets wellness and nutrition education activities and events for students, parents and the community, promoting a positive message on behalf of the district and the department. 7. Coordinates special events for students, social media promotions and maintains digital signage within schools. 8. Assist in obtaining grant funds as available. Pursue awards to promote district nutrition initiatives and recognition of wellness efforts. 9. Oversee and improve K -5 cafeteria services, district catering and internal and external satellite operations. 10. Conduct regular, documented site visitations to all K - 5 meal programs including breakfast, lunch, after school snacks, summer and supper programs. Includes administrative and onsite reviews to ascertain compliance with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations. Assures corrective action is completed as necessary. 11. Develop and conduct trainings to ensure K – 5 staff compliance with professional standards regulations. Document compliance. 12. Acts as a liaison with Information Technology Department. Learn to use and maintain department POS system. Provide training and support for end-users on site, via the network, over the telephone and in written form. 13. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, staff and other personnel. 14. Performs administrative tasks as needed. 15. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE: * Registered Dietitian, certified by the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) * Food Protection Certification Program * Experience in Child Nutrition preferred * Experience in teaching and conducting training programs preferred * Aptitude for creative endeavors such as writing, oral presentations and marketing * Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and meet established deadlines
