About the Role
As the Head of Last Mile Transformation you will be instrumental in leading and overseeing Last Mile project-style initiatives. This pivotal role demands a visionary leader capable of driving innovation, optimizing efficiency, and ensuring the seamless execution of projects that directly impact our partners operational efficiency and customer proposition.
You will be responsible for translating business objectives into actionable project plans with clear milestones and outcomes, fostering a culture of excellence, and delivering measurable change that enhances both partner performance and team efficiency.
The role requires exemplary stakeholder management to negotiate and influence Partners (and Regions) to make modifications to Partner processes and systems. The problems and issues faced are numerous and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand and solve.
Provide clear and timely feedback into product/technology that promotes concise UX development, discuss new features and functionality - all leading to a better system for our operational partners.
Half of the role will be leading specific Last Mile projects to answer some key strategic questions, such as:
- How do we better retain and motivate drivers?
- Are we utilising Spokes in the best way?
- Are there opportunities to use a service-partner delivery driver model?
- How can we maximise the benefits of un-structured vehicles?
- What should we be advising our partners regarding their Fleets and methods for reducing VOR?
Half of the role will be implementing project management best practice, and delivering measurable change that enhances the wider Last Mile team efficiency, such as:
- Develop and implement robust governance and structured plans to ensure Partners are fully prepared for Go Live.
- Implement best practice product/feature release process involving all stakeholders.
- Implementing portfolio visibility within the wider Last Mile team and wider PS Central team..
- Ensure that the wider Last Mile team is quantifying and recording hours spent on projects, investigating P&L impact, adjustments to KPIs to allow effective capture of spend on activities against the benefits achieved to help prioritise what should be replicated across other Partners.
- Developing clearly defined and measurable “work packages” that can be sold by Consulting Team.
The role requires an experienced people manager (matrix and direct) who ensures all team management best practice principles are followed. For example, the team must be set clear objectives and be given regular feedback within a framework of competencies that factor in 360 feedback.

About you
- Extensive experience in project management, with good tenure in a senior leadership role overseeing a portfolio of complex projects, preferably within the logistics, courier, or supply chain industry.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, cross-functional projects on time and within budget.
- Demonstrable experience in implementing new technologies and driving significant operational improvements.
- Previous experience and demonstrable breadth and depth of knowledge of the Last Mile Optimisation environment.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire diverse teams.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a results-oriented approach.
