The McGovern Lab is currently seeking a qualified Laboratory Research Technician II. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for completing experiments involving molecular genetics and molecular biology assays, including animal husbandry, in compliance with approved IACUC and IBC protocols. Hands on animal work will be required for this position. The successful applicant will have one year of molecular biology or molecular genetics experience with rodent handling preferred. Commonly used protocols in the McGovern lab include immunofluorescence of fixed primary tissue, florescence confocal microscopy, gel electrophoresis, primary tissue dissociation, florescence activated cell sorting, and RNA and DNA sequencing. Additional assays will be developed by the lab as necessary. The successful applicant will initially be performing experiments outlined in existing grant funding, however, will have the opportunity to develop projects within the scope of the McGovern Lab research focus. Additional duties will include routine lab maintenance as directed by the lab manager (i.e. restocking supplies and reagents). Lab members may engage in collaborations with other research labs in the Pittsburgh Hearing Research Center.
