General Summary:

The Parent Liaison will be responsible for engaging the parents/guardians in the school community by working with the Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services, principals, school staff, PTA and community groups/agencies promoting their involvement and providing information and/or direction.

 

The Parent Liaison focuses on creating a welcoming environment for parents. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services and works with the principal to identify parent and related/school community issues to see that they are addressed in a timely manner. The Parent Liaison assists parents in setting goals and educational development for their children. Also meets with principals or his/her designee(s) to develop and review work plans and assess the impact of the liaison’s work on student outcomes. Engagement of their parent/guardians will be the primary focus of the Parent Liaison.

 

Essential Job Function:

· Works with the Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services to ensure that district-wide goals are met.

· Maintains confidentiality in carrying out responsibilities.

· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Parent Resource Center to promote a culture of empowering families and ensure the provision of a consistent pathway of care for families.

· Coordinates the activites of the Parent Resource Center to support families and provide informational resources, training, one-to-one support, as needed, and facilities collaborative partnerships.

· Convenes semi-monthly events and workshops to create a welcoming school environment.

· Works with school level PTA and PTA Council to further their agenda and provide assistance as needed.

· Serves as liaison between the school and parent/families of the school, and between Central Office and the Community.

· Provides information and resources to parents in supporting their child’s academic, social and emotional needs.

· Conducting meetings at school for parents who request help navigating the school system and access community resources.

· Strengthens communication to parents about the school services, specific activities and events along with encouraging them to serve on school committees.

· Works with Administration on concerns and helping to resolve issues that parents are experiencing.

· Creating strong and sustainable partnerships with community-based organizations.

· Attend monthly meetings and training with the Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services.

· Maintains a daily Parent Communication Log.

· Completes and submits a Parent Liaison Reporting form accurately and punctually.

 

Professional Development:

Parent Liaisons are required to attend monthly meetings. Each meeting will provide opportunities for:

· professional learning.

· collaborative discussions / sharing of ideas.

· understanding administrative responsibilities.
