Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking student-focused, dedicated Paraeducators to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support in Title I classrooms to further enhance the efficiency and productivity of educational environments.

 

This is a one-year position, ending at the close of the 2025–2026 school year.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments
  • Assists with evaluating and testing students
  • Works with small groups of students in various subject areas
  • Follows established procedures for monitoring student behavior when supervising small or large groups
  • Monitors students whereabouts and observes student safety
  • Performs routine clerical duties such as copying, typing, answering/making telephone calls, and basic troubleshooting
  • Performs additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, parent pick up/curbside duty, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, office duty, and class coverage, as necessary.
  • Attends trainings as needed to support job functions.

Education and Experience: 

 

Required

  •  High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or related setting

 Special Requirements:

  • Paraeducators hired to support within a Title I school must meet the requirements to obtain designation of highly qualified which include:
    • Complete two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
    • Obtain an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
    • Meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing, readiness, and mathematics readiness).

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10-Month (185 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is granted funded. This is a one-year position, ending at the close of the 2025–2026 school year. Additional compensation awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees.
