TITLE: PLANT MANAGER  

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possess high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years’ experience with facilities maintenance.
  2. Relate to public, staff and students in a positive manner.
  3. Experience with supervising custodial trades.
  4. Understanding and knowledge of health, safety and fire codes as they relate to schools.
  5. Require working knowledge of two major trades such as plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, carpentry and security.
  6. Capable of performing basic maintenance tasks such as changing common parts on toilets or faucets, air or water filters, bulbs, door hardware, etc.
  7. Lift and manipulate equipment and materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
  8. Operate equipment in a safe manner.
  9. Have basic computer skills and literacy.
  10. Operate and make adjustments to energy management systems.

 

JOB GOAL:

This position is responsible for providing direction and supervision for assigned school sites with minimal supervision. Keep the district’s buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. Responsible for Arizona State Preventive Maintenance Plan.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise Personnel.
  2. Prepare work schedules and issue assignments to custodians.
  3. Provide instructions in work methods, train and orientate new employees.
  4. Perform preventative maintenance as required by School Facility Board (SFB).
  5. Complete and submits work orders.
  6. Order and receive supplies, equipment and maintain inventories.
  7. Responsible for all school site security.
  8. Confer with teachers and administrators and provide necessary maintenance repairs to classrooms and equipment.
  9. Operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner.
  10. Read and apply all label and job-related information.
  11. Understand and apply safety-related precautions as outlined in SDS (safety data sheets).
  12. Relate to public, staff and students in a positive manner.
  13. Assist with interviewing and hiring.
  14. Coordinate the posting of pesticide/herbicide notice as required by AAC.R7-2-315.
  15. Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance/Director of Construction on close out manuals as required by Architect and
    contractor.
  16. Contribute to the team by accomplishing additional duties as assigned.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customer or employees.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations / issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and verbal form.

 

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Maintenance and Transportation

 

SUPERVISION:

Supervised by the Director of Maintenance.  Supervises all custodial staff. 

 

GRADE /  SALARY SCHEDULE /LENGTH OF WORK YEAR:

Grade J    Salary Range: $20.90-$25.88 (DOE)
