Part-time Patient Access Registration position for the Outpatient Specialty Clinic. 20-24 hours/week (40-48 hours per pay period). Work hours vary depending need and will be scheduled Monday - Friday between 8AM - 5PM.
Part-time benefits include: IPERS, Health, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, and Long Term Disability. PTO accrual begins first day of employment.
Patient Access/Registration Job Description
A patient access representative processes the information required upon arrival, completion of patient visit, and insurance billing. The patient access works closely with the staff in the Outpatient Specialty Clinic, Clinicians, as well as other departments located within Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Patient Access Representative:
- Answer phones, send faxes, scan paperwork, as well as take detailed messages.
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Be able to work in a fast paced, high volume patient environment at times.
- Detail orientated and being able to prioritize and multitask is a MUST.
- Able to problem solve and adapt to changing situations.
- Be able to register patients along with making follow-up appointments for patients.
- Follow processes and protocols for each clinic, collects and sends information to appropriate departments/Doctor’s offices. Examples include copies of insurance cards, photo ID’s, some co-pays and any additional paperwork requested by physician offices.
- Maintain appropriate records including statistics of clinic visit and orders.
- Be ready and willing to learn different EMR systems that the traveling physicians use. With this you need to be willing and able to do classes, travel to traveling physicians’ home location and or Net Learnings when the facilities require you to do this for upgrades.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- Highschool Diploma
- At least 6 months experience in a healthcare setting, but willing to train the right individual.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans is beneficial
- Strong Administrative and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and maintain strong attention to detail
