Position Summary:
The Director of Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting serves as the subject matter expert on technical accounting issues and leads the development and implementation of accounting policies. The position also plays a key role in potential SEC reporting and governance preparedness activities, complex transactions, and coordination with external auditors. This position will be responsible for overseeing the company’s external financial reporting and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Research and document technical accounting issues, including new pronouncements and complex transactions.
· Prepare white papers and position memos for internal and external stakeholders.
· Advise on accounting implications of M&A, asset acquisitions, debt and equity financing, and other strategic initiatives.
· Lead the preparation and filings of SEC reporting materials.
· Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with SEC regulations, including but not limited to Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other necessary filings.
· Coordinate with legal, investor relations, and other departments for disclosures.
· Develop and maintain corporate accounting policies and procedures.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal controls.
· Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit committee materials.
· Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, and Operations teams.
· Lead cross-functional initiatives related to financial reporting and accounting systems.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s preferred).
· Certification: CPA required.
· Experience: Big 4 public accounting experience required. 8–10 years in technical accounting and SEC reporting, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
· Skills:
o Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
o Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
o Proficiency in NetSuite, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
o Strong knowledge of and experience applying ASC 842 (leases), ASC 718 (stock-based compensation), ASC 230 (cashflow), ASC 280 (segment reporting), ASC 260 (EPS), ASC 606 (Revenue), ASC 805 (Business Combinations) and ASC 350-40 (Internal-use software) required.
Preferred Attributes:
· Experience with international subsidiaries and consolidations.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $190,000 - $210,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
