Job Summary
The Data Modeler Specialist role plays a key role in designing and managing data models for the organization. The Data Modeler Specialist designs, implements, and documents data architecture and data modeling solutions. These solutions encompass a variety of database technologies. In addition, the role supports enterprise information management, business intelligence, machine learning, data science, and other business interests. Under specific direction, this position will utilize various enterprise tools to provide data modeling services to the organization utilizing best practices in data management. Core functions include but are not limited to conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, data profiling, data quality, and source-to-target mapping. Experience in data warehouse concepts, business requirements gathering and analysis, source system evaluation, and master data management concepts. The position will work collaboratively with local and international colleagues, both from within Information Technology and the business. This role will entail working on and leading critical data-related projects, ensuring efficient and effective data management for the organization.
Responsibilities
- Leverage a variety of data warehouse environments, data management and business applications to deliver critical data services to the organization.
- Work with key subject matter experts and executives in the organization to develop data models and data services.
- Develop, model, standardize, and process data in data warehouse environments.
- Communicate data issues to non-data management staff, analytics techniques to find emerging issues, and modular development to maintain a high quality, timely service.
- Integrate related techniques into the data services and data warehouse development life cycle and communicate and standardize the approach.
- Design and develop data modeling solutions within the data management system environment including:
- Blueprinting
- Requirements gathering
- Designing
- Implementation
- Participate in regional and global projects related to data modeling and broader data services including:
- Communicate project tasks status regularly with project teams and end users.
- Coordinate project task efforts with vendors and internal project teams.
- Develop and execute system testing; create use cases, develop, and execute test plans, and facilitate user acceptance effort.
- Facilitate data management systems technical support:
- Develop post-implementation performance metrics.
- Coordinate and develop user and technical support documentation.
- Meet and coordinate with key users on software updates, optimizations and ongoing issues or concerns.
- Provide post-implementation process and technical support.
- Work with vendor support organizations for problem resolution, as required.
- Support data management security policies.
- Implement and support new technology as it pertains to our data management systems.
- Implement and support total data management infrastructure including administration, software upgrades, and coordination with vendor support.
- Coordinate efforts to ensure optimum system resources and capacity are available for efficient application operation and high availability.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/MIS and 5 (+) years of relevant professional level work experience preferred, or an Associate degree and 8 (+) years of relevant professional level work experience preferred.
- 3- years of data management experience - data modeling techniques, tools, and methodologies
- Hands-on experience with tools such as ERWIN, Toad Data Modeler, Oracle Data Modeler.
- Demonstrated experience with implementing data warehousing principles and methodologies.
- Communication skills to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Possess sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
- Familiarity relational database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) and SQL is required.
- Solid background in application and transactional systems.
- Ability to adjust quickly to rapidly changing priorities with a global project team is required.
- Communication skills and knowledge leadership with the ability to work effectively with all levels in the company, as well as with international colleagues, is required.
- Successfully execute assigned project tasks for data management.
- Demonstrates initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completes these tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required.
- Robust problem solving, prioritizing tasks and/or resources, and focusing on outcomes.
- Formidable willingness to learn and adapt to innovative technologies and methodologies.
- Business Intelligence experience is preferred.
- Experience with data integration development and support.
- Background and understanding of data operations (DataOps).
- Familiarity with the specific industry (in your case, electronics components) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of the electronics industry, including components, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics.
- Six Sigma / Lean experience is a plus.
Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours)
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time (2-4 hours at a time)
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to travel in vehicles (automobiles, trains, and planes) for up to 10 hours.
- Must be able to comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Must be able to travel to foreign countries.
- Must be on-call 24x7, as required.

- This is a hybrid position unless otherwise specified requiring 3 days in the office.
