The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, programming, troubleshooting, and support of automation systems within a beverage manufacturing environment. This role focuses on Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs, with an emphasis on maintaining company standards, supporting legacy migration projects, and providing reliable solutions to improve safety, efficiency, and compliance.
Pay Range: $86,000 - $100,000 / year + bonus
Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Location: Fresno, CA
Travel Requirements: < 5%

Core Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using Allen-Bradley RSLogix 500 and Studio 5000.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot HMI applications.
- Support legacy control system migrations to modern platforms.
- Design, specify, and troubleshoot motor control systems, including VFDs.
- Apply knowledge of instrumentation for installation, configuration, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Review and update control panel designs and schematics.
- Provide production support for control system hardware, software, and field devices.
- Document project deliverables, system changes, and configurations to support long-term maintainability.
- Define success criteria for assignments, report progress to the project manager, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLC/HMI platforms (RSLogix 500, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio).
- Working knowledge of control panel layouts, wiring practices, and schematics.
- Hands-on experience with VFDs and motor controls, including commissioning and diagnostics.
- Proficiency with instrumentation setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in an industrial automation environment.
- Ability to work independently while adhering to standards and maintaining clear documentation.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and report technical work.

- Connected Components Workbench (CCW)
- Wonderware InTouch
- Siemens PLCs
- Ignition SCADA
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, such as Electrical Engineering.
- 2–7 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a food/beverage manufacturing environment preferred.
