First Shift Environmental Service Supervisor
1.0 FTE (80 Hours Bi Weekly)
1st Shift 6:00am - 3:30pm
Weekend/Holiday: Occasional

Position Overview:

The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for providing direction, guidance and supervision to environmental services caregivers. This caregiver works as part of a team to ensure the sanitation, disinfection and cleanliness at all Winona Health Campus locations. This caregiver strictly enforces all operational and physical safety requirements for a commercial cleaning operation.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction, training, and development of caregivers.
  • Monitor laundry, housekeeping and floor care operations for compliance.
  • Ensure appropriate scheduling coverage for all required positions.
  • Ensure proper disinfection and sanitation using quality controls.
  • Ensures required regulatory documentation.
  • Conducts monthly safety and quality audits as assigned.
  • Promote and coach caregivers regulatory and safety guidelines and rules.
  • Coach staff through performance expectations.
  • Establishes customer service contracts and relationships with departments.
  • Facilitate and participate in daily FOCUS board meetings.
  • Utilize PDCA methods for daily process improvement.
  • Actively participate in Winona Health Leadership Academy.
  • Completes mandatory educational requirements of Winona Health caregivers.
  • Completes documentation and reporting duties as assigned.
  • Deliver the highest level of customer service standards for patients, residents, caregivers and visitors at Winona Health.
  • This is a working supervisor position and may be required to work an EVS position during staff shortages.
  • Keeps an open mind and demonstrates a willingness to learn new methods, procedures, and techniques that embrace change.
  • Understands, supports and integrates the organization’s vision/mission/values/manifesto.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • 1-2 years’ experience in the supervision of environmental services operations, healthcare or skilled nursing field preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience with multi-campus environmental service operations
  • Ability to supervise employees and operations in multiple areas
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Physical Demands:

Light-Medium Work

Work activities that require lifting frequently with 10#, occasionally 15-20# and rarely 25#. Work activities that require push/pull forces of with 20-30# frequently and 40# rarely. Light-Medium work generally is defined as all activities in the light category of work except there is a higher push/pull force on a frequent basis and higher weight for lifting activities on a frequent basis compared to the light category. Work activities may assume work in a variety of work positions including frequent bending and stooping, squatting, frequent standing and walking.

Physical Requirements:

  • May lift and carry supplies that weigh between 10-15# and max of 20-30#.
  • May push/pull carts on a frequent basis with force of 20-40#.
  • May require light to moderate grip or pinch force to complete work activities.
  • May assume reaching ranges frequently between vertical heights of 20-36” in either sitting or standing positions to complete work activities. Reaching to retrieve items from storage may require occasional reaching at vertical heights of 18-20” and 40-72”.
  • May assume frequent reaching to the front and side and occasional reaching above shoulder height while working in either sitting or standing positions.

Work Environment:

The environment consists of a moderate to rapid pace that requires flexibility to adjust to resident/patient and staffing needs. Physical demands are light to moderate with frequent bending, pulling, pushing and prolonged and sustained periods of standing and walking. Requires the ability to perform multi-task requirements in a high-low stress/fast-slow paced and many interruptions.

Required Work Schedule:

Scheduled hours between 5:00am-Midnight. Monday through Friday but may require flexibility based on the needs of the Environmental Services Department.

1st Shift Supervisor

  • Supervises first shift environmental operations including laundry, housekeeping and floor care.
  • Administrative duties to include monitoring of duty sheets, appropriate inventories and supply orders and staff scheduling.
  • Facilitates New Employee Orientation and training.
  • Monthly rounding with assigned caregivers.
  • Audit operations for accuracy.
  • Other leadership or supervisory duties as necessary.

2nd Shift Supervisor

  • Supervises second shift environmental services including laundry, housekeeping and floor care.
  • Administrative duties to include monitoring of duty sheets and staff scheduling.
  • Facilitates New Employee Orientation and training.
  • Monthly rounding with assigned caregivers.
  • Audit operations for accuracy.
  • Other leadership or supervisory duties as necessary.
