Position: Lead Tool Setter

Job Summary 

Responsible for the inspection and installation of all tooling and associated components used in the production process. Provides training and direction to other individuals on the tool setting/maintenance team(s) in the area of tool preparation, maintenance, and repair as needed or as instructed by the Maintenance Manager of the facility.

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00

Responsibilities 

  • In conjunction with the facility Maintenance Manager and Production Manager, establish standardized work instructions for the preparation and installation of tooling used in the manufacturing process. This includes creating specific preparation instructions for each tool.

  • Coordinate and/or participate in the safe and timely removal of production tools from the press at the completion of production run. Inspect removed tools for damage or required maintenance.

  • Log all repair/maintenance activities performed on each tool.

  • Responsible for executing on the  preventive maintenance program for tooling and all supporting components (e.g.; adapter/receiver frames, fill guns, fill gun connectors, cooling trees, etc.)

  • Responsible for tools, including storage, transportation, maintenance, revision control, modifications, repairs, and disposal.

  • Provides direction/instruction to department associates regarding the activities and procedures for effective and efficient tool changes, following standard handling and operating procedures.

  • Completes and maintains the required internal documentation relative to tool preparation, change, and repair activities. Including tracking the time and man/hours associated with tool preparation activities by tool number.

  • Compliance with legal environmental and safety requirements of the area. 
  • Know the environmental aspects of the area and its control. 
  • Know the environmental impacts associated with their activities. 
  • Follow all Environmental and Safety policies. 
  • Comply with procedures, regulations, and instructions of environmental and safety programs. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications 

  • Organization - able to maintain orderly storage system for tools and support equipment; logical workflow planning to support efficient tool change. 
  • Equipment Maintenance/Repair - Has experience/knowledge in the use of both hand and power tools in the repair and maintenance of production tooling. 
  • Troubleshooting - ability to inspect and identify root cause of broken or malfunctioning equipment and initiate corrective action 
  • Inspection - ability to visually inspect process equipment and use applicable measuring devices to gauge compliance with acceptable tolerances. 
  • Technical - ability to read and properly interpret blueprints, CADD drawings and work instructions 
  • Forklift certification required. 

Physical Demands 

  • Position may require periods of intense physical exertion in conditions of low to high temperatures and humidity. 
  • Position requires the ability to stand, bend, and stretch over extended periods of time during a normal work shift. 
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
