As the Safety Management System Program Manager, you will manage various safety programs and deliver critical practices and key performance indicators in accordance with federal requirements and industry standards to identify and mitigate systemic weaknesses.

  • You will monitor and interpret changes in laws, regulations, and guidance related to the Regulatory Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Safety Management System (SMS) advisory circular (AC) 5200-37 and evaluate impacts to the airport.

  • You will develop and monitor long and short-term program plans, including identifying possible risks, tracking budget, setting targets for milestones, adjusting schedules, and ensuring adherence to deadlines.

  • You will identify trends, patterns, and consistencies to help improve airfield safety performance, set key performance indicators, align priorities and shape operational initiatives.

  • You will create detailed management reports and presentations to track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and delivery as well as publish weekly safety dashboards to support Aviation Division goals.

  • You will produce and distribute bulletins, notices, and other safety documentation to support safe airport operations and communicate with stakeholders to ensure understanding and obtain buy-in.

  • You will develop and administer the Veoci SMS data management platform, Office 365 SharePoint and MS Teams for the department, and provide support to department members as ad-hoc questions arise.

  • You will identify, plan, and implement key mitigations for projects and processes to improve quality, reduce costs, increase productivity, and improve cycle time by reducing wasted time and rework resulting in significant business improvement and customer satisfaction.

  • You will participate in assigned industry groups/committees or with specific entities such as other airports or government agencies as a representative of the Port.

  • Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience in aviation operations and/or safety and risk.

  • Desired – We hope you have an Associate’s Degree in Aviation and an American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Safety Management Systems (SMS) certification.

  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). You may be required to work during off-shift hours and snow operations to address any issues that could adversely impact Port operations.

  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment, occasionally working in and around high noise environment on an active airfield.

  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.

  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

  • Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.

  • Security Requirements – You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
