Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch is a fast-paced, customer-focused restaurant dedicated to delivering an exceptional dining experience. We’re currently looking for a Host Lead to help set the tone for service and ensure our front-of-house operations run smoothly.
As the Host Lead, you are the first and last impression for our guests. You’ll lead the host team by example, manage seating logistics, and ensure smooth communication between the front and back of house. This role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and a guest-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Relations & Experience
- Greet and welcome guests with warmth, professionalism, and efficiency.
- Manage reservations and walk-ins using a POS/reservation system and collect customer information.
- Maintain a waitlist when necessary and provide accurate wait times.
- Coordinate guest seating to optimize flow and server sections while maintaining an elevated guest experience.
- Update table status on all bookings.
- Ensure a polished and clean entrance and host area at all times.
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Train, mentor, and supervise host team members to ensure consistency in service and professionalism.
- Create and manage front door coverage schedules with management oversight.
- Monitor host team performance and provide real-time feedback or escalate concerns to management as needed.
- Act as a communication bridge between the host stand, management, and service staff.
Operational Efficiency
- Review reservations for the day and make note of VIPS, special occasions, food allergies or other reservation notes.
- Manage the floor plan and rotation to ensure balance among servers and smooth service flow.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen and management about large parties or VIP guests.
- Produce and distribute customer information tickets/chits.
- Provide the appropriate celebration card for the guests according to reservation notes.
- Handle guest concerns or complaints with discretion, tact, and a solutions-oriented approach.
- Support opening and closing duties of the host stand, including reporting guest metrics and ensuring a smooth shift transition.
Education, Experience and Required Skills
- 2 years Host experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Proficiency in use and floor plan setup of Sevenrooms or similar reservation system
- Food Handler's certification and RBS certification required
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with unexpected situations
- Must be able to lift, balance, and carry plates of food
- Must be able to use both hands to handle, grasp, move and control objects, tools and equipment operations
- Must be able to bend or twist body
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Compensation and Benefits
- Part-time hourly position
- The Company reasonably expects to pay in the range of $16.50 - $22.00 per hour, plus tips for this position. Of course, this is depending on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, and business or organizational needs. This wage range may be modified in the future.
